Superstars in the making

We had an amazing time doing a fitness circuit on Friday afternoon, challenging ourselves to learn new moves and increase the number we could do. We spotted some future Rowde netball stars and Kaiya was amongst three Rowde pupils our visitors recognised as having brilliant coordination.
Our visitor was inspirational demonstrating determination and resilience in setting numerous world records for hand cycling.
Push ups.
Spotty dog exercise.
We played snakes and ladders to help our number skills. We counted on, took turns, negotiated misunderstandings and generally had a good time. The children loved it.

We said goodbye to Reverend Rees and were joined by Bromham school.
We are writing our tricky words on a daily basis and many of the children are doing really well which has helped confidence in writing.
Whilst some of the children are being encouraged to join their letters now please don't encourage this at home unless you are confident hat your child is doing it at school. I will send out examples next week of how we join to the children who are ready. To assess readiness for joining I am looking at the children who are starting their letters from the anchor line and continuing the letter without taking the pencil off the paper. Please refer to the handwriting sheets I sent out earlier in the year.  Handwriting and joining is playing an increasingly more significant role in your child's learning and new standards expect children to be fully joining with accuracy as soon as possible.

In RE we learnt a story from India called the gold giving serpent. It was to demonstrate how greedy and selfish people can become and are often unhappy with what they have. We thought about times when we shared our belongings with others and how it made us feel. We made our own snakes choosing the media from paint, collage or pastel and finished the week by writing snake facts following some research.
We had a fantastic week.

Fingers crossed that the weather is sunny so we can start swimming. Can everyone bring kits in for Monday. Whilst we are down to do swim club on Tuesday, I have no adult help after school still so I can't guarantee it will be on this week. Adults will need their DBS checks which takes a couple of days to come through once the school applies for it.  The school will e- mail if it is cancelled.

A super celebration

We all had a lovely time on Friday an man comments were made about how well Cygnus class behaved throughout lunch. We sang to our visitors, watched the Morris dancing and listened to the adults singing. It was almost like last night at the proms.
There was a busy day of planting with Mrs affix on Thursday. The courgettes and peas will eventually be used in school lunches.
I'm afraid I can't say when we will be swimming as I believe the heater might be broken. I will let you know in advance. To make it easier when we do can I remind everyone that your child will need a swim hat (red if there are medical needs), towel, easy to wear shoes for between he classroom and swimming pool. Please support your child in putting their own cap on although we will help girls with long hair tuck it up. Talcum powder makes it easier to put the caps on. There must be no jewellery or plasters.

We are reinforcing our behaviour support system as a few children are starting to make poor choices with other children or choosing not to listen to certain adults. In many cases where unkind hands have been used, a blue letter will be sent home to let you know what has happened and this will have been shared with Mrs Fox. The children in these situations may not have progressed through the thumbs down or look system as unkind hands affect other children. If a blue letter is sent home please talk to your child about the choices they have made. Children may well try to blame others but in most if not all cases we will have explored further to get everyone's perception.

Finally if children are being collected by a different adult that isn't known to school or by a friends parent please can you inform the office. We can only release children to the adults that we have been asked to. If your child goes to an after school club let the office know if they are being collected by a friends parent. Thank you
