An exciting week.

Another busy week. Thank you to the parents ( and children ) who came to the phonics evening. It was lovely to see you all. I have some resources to send out next week. I will try and rerun this session at some stage. Parents have asked for a workshop on writing and numeracy as well. 

The children are really trying to think of sounds that can be used in their writing. Most are using initial sounds, many end sounds and a few are using middle sounds as well. Mrs Fox loves seeing the development and was thrilled to receive letters from our post office. We thought about the recipe for a good friend after visiting the Witches house in The Jolly Postman. The children included words like kind, happy, playful, lovely amongst others. In numeracy we have continued with number ordering, adding two sets of objects and developing the language of weight. As we were concerned for the Jolly Postman in this rainy weather, we investigated waterproof materials and sorted them into waterproof and not waterproof piles before deciding what we would like our jacket to be made out of. 

We continue to rehearse for the school play. If your child has a speaking part please try and learn the lines. If they have a script, please bring it into school each day. 

Happy 5th birthday Emily. You are going to have a super party tomorrow.
